Happy Father's Day to all the great dads out there! We had a really fun week. We celebrated the World Cup in social studies by singing a song called "Wavin' Flag", which was the official song of the 2010 World Cup and made a soccer craft. The class loved this and it fit in perfectly with the end of the Brazil unit. The video of "Wavin' Flag" is included below. We also had a special science activity.  Mrs. Dunn, Gabrielle's mom, brought in a group of baby chicks and went over the incubation process. It was such a special treat for the class to see and pet baby chicks.

June 17th-Flag Day (please have your child wear red, white and blue)

June 18th-Play dress rehearsal

June 20th-The Garden Show at 1pm in the gym/Ice Cream Social following!

 

June 8, 2014

We celebrated our persuasive speeches this week! All of the students have grown so much as writers. They are also really good at giving positive feedback to their peers. Some students got up and read their speech in front of the class! I am so proud of their accomplishments! Check out some pictures of our celebration below. 

FYI We are working hard on the play, The Garden Show! It will be in the gym on June 20th at 1:00!

This week...

Reading
Students are doing a great job reading independently. I am completing my final reading assessment with each student and I am so impressed with the growth they have made as readers!

Writing
Students will do one last persuasive writing piece this week so I can asses what they've learned. Students are also working on "compliment cards". They are writing a note and making a card for each member of the class.

Math
We are still working on "Step Up to Fourth Grade". Last week, we practiced multiplying 2 digit by 1 digit. We are also working on division with remainders. We are also continuing multiplication and division drills each day.
