May 18th-May 22nd

We have had a busy couple of weeks! We had a great time on our field trip to the planetarium and are looking forward to the next field trip on June 2nd. I am still waiting on a few permissions slips, so please send this in if you have not already done so. As far as chaperones, I am trying to give first choice to people who did not get to join us on the last field trip, then I will go from the group of people who have volunteered to go again. If you would like to chaperone on June 2nd, please send this back by Monday.

This week...

Reading and Writing
In reading, we finished up a fun mystery unit. The students did a great job with their mystery book groups. We will be working on a biography unit this week. In writing, we are working on the persuasive unit. Students will be choosing "seed ideas" this week for their final persuasive speech. They are having a great time with this!

Math
In math, we are going to be doing a review unit over the next few weeks. Students will be working at stations to review major topics of the year including-addition and subtraction with regrouping, place value and rounding, fractions, multiplication, division and word problems. Please make sure your child is continuing to practice each night on xtramath. It is so important to be strong in their facts for fourth grade.

Science/Social Studies
In science, we are continuing the electricity unit. The class is really enjoying the experiments! Check out the pictures below! In social studies, we are learning about Brazil. The students are also really enjoying the Junior Achievement lessons with Mr. Neal! They are learning all about business and money and having fun with it. Thanks Mr. Neal!
